Pincurls...Refreshing Them After the Rain!

My hairs enemy is THE RAIN!

For the past two days it has been raining all day here on the east coast and my pincurls, which can survive even the hottest of summer days, is no match for this form of mother nature. I told you about my rollerset and pincurls in my last post and now I need to share with you how I refresh them in this messy weather.

My frizzy curls, need revitalization. So here's what I do.

-Section hair into small parts .
-Spray very lightly with Hairever Scalp and Hair Tonic (hair should barely feel damp)
-Add a half-dime size of leave-in conditioner
-One-half pump of Moraccin oil
-Pincurl section
-Baggy entire head
-Satin scarf

I kept my hair baggied for about 6 hours (8pm-2am I usually have to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom). While I was up, I took off my satin scarf, removed the shower cap and my hair felt sooo moisturized. I immediately placed my satin scarf back on my hair and went back to sleep. When I woke up later in the morning my hair/curls were so soft and moisturized -my pretty loopy curls were back.

Unfortunetly, it still raining so I'm feeling my hair now and all I need to do tonight is moisturize, seal, pincurl and place my satin scarf on...nighty, night!

Pincurls! Keep Your Workout On Track and Your Hair in Check

In my post last night, I told you all how rollersetting was the way to hair growth. So after a good nights sleep and a great 2 mile run this morning I realized that it would be helpful for me to tell you how to keep that rollerset in order if you workout or not.

Pincurls ladies, pincurls! After I removed my rollers last night, I put a little Moraccin oil on each section pincurled, and placed my satin scarf on to sleep. Woke up this morning removed my satin scarf, put on my workout clothes and went for a run. I have this thing with working out without a scarf on...I just don't like the look so I was outside with pincurls. It just looks like- from a distance-that I have short hair. The key to this is not letting the pin touch your scalp because then your strands are touching the sweat that you want to keep confind to your scalp. I let my scalp dry in the curls while I shower and get dressed, removed the pins, add a little moisturizer, shake and go.

Consider this way of keeping your hair styled and pretty all while staying healthy.

Rollersetting=Hair Growth!

I remember last year having wonderful hair growth in a matter of months by rollersetting. Rollersetting has truely worked wonders on my hair and its overall health. I think because for the next 4-5 days there will be very little manipulation of my hair, it gives my strands a chance to relax and grow. The only combing will occur while detangling to roll each individual section of my head. Throughout the time I wear this style, I can usually see just how thick and healthy my hair is and the compliments I receive from others have proven that to me. .

Nightly moisturizing and sealing, pincurls and my satin scarf are key factors in keeping my stresses moisturized thoughout this time. So for the next two months, I plan to alternate between rollersetting and wearing my half wig for optimal hair growth.

Good Hair!

My Favorite Deep Conditioner-Extra Virgin Coconut Oil on Dry Hair

Welcome!

I was over a friends house this weekend while weathering hurricane Irene. My hair was sooo dry. You know us ladies can't bring our entire arcinal of haircare products to HIS house because its just too much stuff to carry. We've got clothes etc and heck...you just need to be home to do certain stuff. So while I had a great time...I finally made it home and got to work on my couf. I coconut oil deep conditioned on dry hair all night. This has been the saving grace of my hair and you've gotta try it. You will hear me talk about it alot so pleaze just try it already. This is what I did.

What you need: Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (Unrefined), comb, saran wrap, satin scarf and small towel.

You can either liquify the oil or scoop it right from the jar. I divided my hair in 4 parts and massaged a little bit all over my scalp. Rubbed oil all through my hair concentrating on ends and new growth- do not put so much as to where its dripping. Wrapped in saran wrap and placed satin scarf on. I then placed the small towel between my pillowcase and the pillow just to protect my pillow.

The next morning I removed the saran wrap and scarf and my hair was soooo soft and strong. I placed in a loose ponytail and went for a 3 mile run (totally optional of course) and when I returned co-washed with one of my cheapie moisturing conditioners and rinsed. Added my leave-ins and airdried in a low ponytail. Because my ends get dry when I airdry, I put shea butter (ninapruitt recipe) the entire length of my pony tail and wa-la..straight ends. I do this once a week.

Baggying Whole Head/Ends for Moisture!

If your hair is anything like mine, it begs for moisture.

It seems like the sun and wind love to drink every bit of moisture out of my hair. I drive a convertible and when I tell you my hair gets dry...it gets dry. Even when I wear my half wig-- that even gets dry from all the air passing over the top of my vehicle. But I love my drop top and always will. That said I've been on a mission to keep my locks locked on any moisture product or combination available.

I had heard of baggying many times but literally IGNORED the posts. I saw posts on Hairlista and a few other hair sites and just thought briefly thats not for me without giving it one more thought. But one day I was feeling my hair, especially my ends and just how...DRY they were and thought, there must be a better way. My ends have gotta have a drink and stay hydrated at least for a day.

Then came the thought of how much I've learned about moisturizing and sealing my hair and how I've been doing a good job of it. That is not using too much moisturizer and oil...maybe subconciously I didn't think I was ready for baggying back then and now have Arrived. So I went on my internet research journey and found alot about it from some of the best.

My Baggying Method:
-Plastic sandwich bags (the cheap ones without the ziplock) for my ends, a plastic bag from the store if I'm baggying my entire head
-Kinky Curly Leave-In Conditioner
-Moraccin Oil or Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
-Hairever Tonic (available in Vitamin Shoppe or Amazon)
Jumbo satin covered sponge rollers.

I separated my hair into six sections. Sprayed a small amount of Hairever so hair is slightly damp, then took a dime size amount of leave-in and rubbed it on each section, sealed with oil, then placed a roller on the end of each section. Repeated on the remaining five sections and moistured and sealed my back and front edges. Many of you may be asking why the rollers? Well, my hair does better when its kept as straight as possible, especially ends so as not to break any further- my choice but optional for you. I then covered my ends with plastic sandwich bags or entire head with bag. Cover with satin scarf and its bedtime. Try not to sweat through the night..so turn on a fan or the AC to keep you cool thoughout the night.

In the morning remove scarf, rollers and bag(s) and just feel the moisture and style. My hair finally stayed moisturized all day and the next. Baggying is the best!
