I'm transitioning as you may know and have been pretty vocal about the advantages of moving from relaxed to natural hair.
I've been washing/co-washing, airdrying and Caruso steam rolling or rollersetting for months with little manipulation so as to basically leave my hair and roots alone to prevent breakage at all levels...and yes I moistuize and seal a minimum of once a day. It sounds kinda easy as I read what I'm writing but its not easy- at all.
I touch my hair a lot more now. Why? Because my new growth hasn't felt like this in years- like 20 years and I'm amazed. It feels good and big and healthy. Sometimes while I'm in the mirror I'll separate a piece in the back of my hair and just look at how wavy my roots are and how much my hair has grown in just 4 months. BUT when this stuff gets dry and needs to be washed or cowashed those pretty waves are a matted, compacted, desert begging for water and product. It's all good though- because its time for a come up!' Come up out' of that chemical and the breakage, dryness and destruction that "creamy crack" brings with it. Yup, I gotta do it. BUT, do know if the relaxer wasn't causing any issues, I'd still subscribe because it is easier and I'm all about convenience. Why did you 'come up out' of relaxing?
