SKIN Product Review: Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay

As much as I love my hair...I love my skin too--actually more.

So occasionally when I stumble across a new product or regimen-- I must share. My friend Tonya is a health, vitamin, herb ..you name it- guru. Mention any aliment you have or improvement to your hair or skin that you want to make and she's got the prescription. Natural prescription that is. We were talking recently and I complained about how I've spent loads of money for years on high end products for my hair and skin that didn't work more than they did. And within the past few years I've learned that coconut oil, lemon juice, castor oil etc have unbelievable hair and skin healing and improvement properties. Worse, I looked at the ingredients of many of those overpriced products and the naturals I just mentioned are the base ingredient in most. Have I been horns waggled? Maybe but if purchasing all those products has brought me to this point...oh well, I've enjoyed the journey.

Back to Tonya...so she introduced me to Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay. Where have I been? Oh I know where, laying on the table getting a facial and spending $60-$100. I know my esthetician has used this stuff on my face before-or something like it- and applied it with a brush. This stuff is great. I mixed mine with organic ACV until it was pasty and applied. I could feel the tightening of my face and the drawing feeling everyone talks about. After 30 min. I rinsed and applied my aloe vera moisturizer and grape seed oil and ohh-wee I had the softest most glowing skin I've seen in awhile. It's not expensive either...like $7.00 a jar and it lasts forever. Try it once a week and you won't be mad you did. Below are some additional recipes I found.

Recipes to help lower your stress

1. Father Kneipp's Original Recipe Mix equal parts of Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay with apple cider vinegar (raw, organic is best) in a bowl. You should use glass, plastic or wooden bowls and spoons - no metal! Apply to face and/or body and allow to dry up to 45 minutes. Rinse well with warm water only.

2. Antioxidant Mask Mix equal parts of Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay with brewed GREEN TEA and 500 mg. of Vitamin C with bioflavonoids (open up a capsule). Apply to skin, allow to dry and rinse. *Green Tea is currently being studied for its antioxidant, antibacterial, and cancer killing properties.

3. Foot Facial Mix equal parts of Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay with brewed Pau d'Arco Tea and 5 drops of Tea Tree Oil. Apply to feet, especially in between the toes, let dry 30 minutes and rinse well in warm water.

4. Honey Mask Mix equal parts Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay with apple cider vinegar, add1 tablespoon raw honey. Apply to skin, allow to dry10 minutes and rinse with warm water. This mask is similar to a mask used by Cleopatra in her beauty ritual.

5. Body Pack Mix one pound Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay with one pint of apple cider vinegar. Apply a thin coat of the mixture to the body and allow to dry15-20 minutes. Rinse well in the shower. One pound will do 2 people - HAVE FUN!

My "Surefire" Bedtime Hair and Edges Routine....10 Weeks Post

We all have a ride-or-die nightime routine YET always open to suggestions for changes or improvements. Many don't have an edges routine...so for those of you who don't- consider this a gift.

I've been wearing my hair out for the last 2 months- with hardly any protective styling (doesn't always work for me) and have been really loving the way my hair feels after I wake up and style. I'm about 10 weeks post-relaxer and am really in need of a retouch but haven't had time to go. Here's what I use on my hair:

Bedtime Hair Routine:
-Kinky Curly Knot Today
-Moraccin Oil
-Bobby Pins
-Satin Scarf

Separate hair in 4 sections. Add almost a dime size amount of Kinky Curly to one section then one pump of Moraccin Oil to seal. Separate the section into about 3-4 pin curls then move on to the next section until done. Making sure when you get when you get the front two sections you don't pin the curls to close to your edges.

Speaking of edges...here's what I religiously do:

-Hairever Hair Tonic (available at Vitamin Shoppe and Amazon.com)
-Whipped Shea Butter (Nina Pruitt recipe) OR Kinky Curly Knot Today
-Aloe Vera Gel
-Baby Brush
-Satin Strip

Spray edges lightly with HairEver Hair Tonic. Then take a small amount of Whipped Shea Butter, rub it between your fingers and with your index finger apply it to your edges, brush lightly with baby brush. Last apply a quarter size amount of Aloe Vera Gel to the palm of your hand and apply with your index finger as you did the shea butter. It may look like you have alot of product on your edges but it will all melt nicely into your hair overnight. Place satin scarf strip around your edges and tie in between the top row of the last row (not too tight) of your pin curls. Last, place your satin scarf on your head so that it covers the satin strip and your pin curls.

If you workout in the mornings like I do, then keep your pincurls in and its very important to keep that strip around your edges. If it gets too wet after your workout change it to a dry one (I own like 4) but let your edges dry as much as possible then take off the scarf and you'll have smooth edges that will last all day.
